More Tipper stuff

Here is some more stuff I’ve been working on this weekend. I’m planning on making a “shaking device” for tipper. Im picturing a tube formed.. thing.. with a small crack on the top, and you can shake this thing and a card will pop out. The point is, that you can shake this device when you’re mad, and the card you will get will give you a suggestion to what you can do with your anger to “culturize” it. Well, anyway. Here are some proposals for the thing. Please comment on which one you like the most, or if you don’t like any of them =)

As you can see, this is really rough, and it will look a LOT better with real materials and in the real size. The package design was printed at my house, and that printer is, well… Not top notch Well, hope you like the small inpression you got. If not, I really dont have time to change it… By the way, I don’t think I’ll be using that paper thing on the top.

I need a pay-off

Well, this is something that’s been grinding in my mind for quite some time now, and I really feel that I need to find a pay-off, or slogan for my mascot. If somebody want to suggest something, I’ll be happy for the help =) It might get me somewhere.

I can tell you the basics what lies behind Tipper; For me, Tipper is a union between the feelings “love, anger & passion”. Anger is not necessairy a bad thing, and sometimes you need to let yourself become angry to be inspired, to give your work the little cherry on the top. At least that’s how it works for me. And Tipper is my mascot, who is helping me channel my anger and turning it in to passion, desire to do something great.

Well, seems like I haven’t been angry for a while. I feel like my brain has taken a vacation from creativity, I only think about making money and finding apartments.. The boring stuff=/ as my classmate once so nicely put it on facebook; growing up is for trees.

Just know, this is just something I made quick.. Please don’t be too judgementful.. =/ My brain is having a rough patch

Business card

Hi, sorry to all of you… 3 readers, for my bad bad blogging lately. I’ve had a lot on my mind, and just haven’t found the time or energy to make something, but the summer is just around the corner, and so are all the deadlines. This time I’ve made a proposal for my business card, which is also a thing I added for my mascot project. I’m thinking to make the card with a lot of texture, so it will (hopefully) look a lot nicer when printed, and also be exiting to touch. Feel free to comment, I like the look of it, but I don’t want to decide before I’ve gotten feedbacks.

Tipper – Sound of a metal heart

Here is the first (and only?) comic of Tipper, my mascot. The story is about a society far into the future, where everyone are robots. Tipper too, but he is different. He gets really upset by everyone being «zombies» and this story is about him breaking out, becoming «human». If you don’t understand what happens in the end, it’s supposed to illustrate his heart starting to beat.

I know I could have shown this in a better way, but I’m going to work on that later. There’s also missing a few details, but that is also something that will come later on.

Icons

Weee, more icons this week. Well, it was ok but I kind of feel bad for our guest teacher who had to do this with us just one week since the last icon project. It was kind of having the same project all over again, except it wasn’t as complicated this time. I had only 3 1/2 days on this project, due to some “advertising” for the school on other schools this week. But the result is ok I guess.

The assignment was about an imaginary company called “Casatech”, who provides remote controls for the home. It controls everything from the lights to watering of the lawn. We had to make a small logo/symbol for casatech and the main thing was that we were supposed to make icons for this remote control who are easy to understand without text and too much information in the icon. Here is my final result;

Tipper, in the making

Well, this week has been mascot 3D week at Westerdals. Tipper has slowly appeared from the FIMO clay, and to this day he is starting to look like the final result. I really surprised myself during this week, because ever since I knew we were supposed to make the mascot in 3D, I’ve been dreading this week. But he looks good (for my first FIMO figure at least). I started to paint him with hobbylakk (a really bad.. paint) from Panduro. He looked like he’d been struck by a really bad case of pigment spots. So I had to brush down the paint with sandpaper and I went to buy some spray paint from Oslo art centre, or blackout like it was originally called.

Ok, so I’m not a graffiti artist, but it looks so much better now. Im gonna fix a little bit more on the paint, mask and then paint him again with a darker color, but Im starting to get satisfied. Here’s some photos from the process =)

The Bird’s nest

Last week, we got an assignment where we were supposed to make (at least) 10 icons and a web based flipbook for an airport. At first I thought that this would be a very boring assignment, but as I began researching and working with it, I found that it could be a lot of fun. So, while doodling, I came up with a concept for my airport; birds. The plains fly and so do the birds, so it makes sense right? I think that it would be a really cute concept for an airport who actually dared to do something different than just.. “airport”.

Well anyway, at first I thought only the icons should contain birds, but as the idea developed, I figured that it would be so much better and well done with a whole airport based on birds. So, after some thinking, I reached the conclusion that my airport will be called “the bird’s nest”, and of course, look like a nest. After this, I realized that it’s already been made (Beijing Olympic stadium). But this didn’t stop me, so instead, I’m making my airport loosely based on the already existing “bird’s nest”.

This is a rough computer sketch. The look of the airport is not the most important part of the assignment, so I’m not sure how detailed I’m going to make it. Right now I’m working on the “blueprints”. I will update this more as I make more, but I think I’m going to save it for Friday (because my classmates.. well, some classmates, read my blog, and I want something to be a surprise).
